British Camelids

About British Camelids

British Camelids was formed in 1987 to represent everyone interested in llamas, alpacas, guanacos, vicunas and camels, whether owners, breeders or just enthusiasts.

British Camelids is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity.

British Camelids Restructure

Such has been the growth of the camelid community in recent years, alpacas and llamas in particular, in 2006 it was decided to restructure the British Camelids Association (BCA). Accordingly, the Association has been divested of its breed society functions and will now concentrate solely on welfare, educational and charitable objectives.

In consequence…

  • Members owning or interested primarily in alpacas have been transferred to the British Alpaca Society
  • Members owning or interested primarily in llamas and guanacos have been transferred into the new British Llama Society
